2” pot. This is a cross between Phaius tankervilleae and Calanthe Roezel. Both Phaius and Calanthe are terrestrial orchid genera native to Asia. Blooms in winter and/or spring with upright spikes of many maroon-red flowers that resemble Cattleya flowers in general shape. The pseudobulbs are oval shaped, topped by a delicate, broad, fan-shaped leaf. Young mericlone “seedlings”. Photo (courtesy of The Orchid Works) shows a similar red Phaius hybrid.
