Rhynchostylis gigantea ‘Pink’

Description

2″ pot. A beautiful and powerfully fragrant species from southeast Asia. Usually blooms in winter. The plant has a vanda-like appearance and is not as gigantic as its name sounds. The flowers are borne on long pendulous stalks covered with many blossoms that can be a variety of colors ranging from white to pink, red, orange or lavender to spotted. These should be solid pnk, similar in shape to those in the photo, but lighter in color.  Mid-size seedlings [Photo, courtesy of Oak Hill Gardens, shows the red variety]
