They can grow outside in climates where temperatures do not go below freezing in the winter. They flower with tall spikes in a variety of colors ranging from chartreuse to turquoise, blue and near-black. The only species currently available is <em>alpestris<\/em>, which is the one with turquoise-colored flowers. The plants for sale are young seedlings in 2\u201d pots.
