Description
2.75″ tall pot. Also called “samurai orchid”, “wind orchid”, or “fu-ran”, this small epiphytic species is native to Japan, where many different varieties are cultivated. Grows as a single stem (monopodial) that continues to elongate as it produces new leaves. Eventually, the plant will produce many additional growths from the base and form a clump. Flowers arise from the sides of the plant, with each growth continuing to produce flower spikes throughout its lifetime. These plants are the standard longer-leaved type, probably white-flowered. Medium to high humidity, medium to high light. The plants we have for sale are good sized, probably not too far from blooming, with at least 2 growths per plant. The photo shows flowers with a pink nectar spur, but these will probably be white.
